Air Show – Opening Ceremony

Wings Over Waukegan opening ceremony…
It started off with a salute to Vietnam veterans, in acknowledgement of the 40th anniversary of the end of that particular conflict.

The ceremony continued then with the Liberty Jumpers, a skydiving team each with a different flag. They were escorted by the T-28 Warbirds of the Trojan Horsemen, which I had seen on the ground before.

As the jumpers came down, the Warbirds flew in a huge spiral around them, with smoke trails to mark their paths.

After all the jumpers had landed, the Horsemen all met up and presented the Missing Man Formation in honor of those that didn’t make it back.
