Today, July 24, the Lake County Fair opens for five days of farm, food and fun.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll make it there this year.
Enough photos that I can post themes over the next few days – starting with Farm Animals!
You would be surprised by how many farm animals were on display or showing, and how many varieties of each! I know I was!
It is kind of heartening, though, to know that the county still has a few vestiges of its farming past, that not everything is commercial parks or subdivisions.
I also find it interesting that it seems we are almost drawn to touch these creatures, to feel the fur or feathers, the contact with another living being. You can just watch people, especially children, marvel at the textures, the connection with the familiar yet unfamiliar. See the wonder in her face?
That curiosity is probably the reason the most crowded area was the petting zoo, full of unusual breeds wandering around loose:
An easy way to touch your farming roots!
