In July of last year, we visited a forest preserve called Raven Glen East. There is a nice lake, Timber Lake, and lots of vistas.
I had avoided this one in the past, because it is mostly open, and it had been so hot and cloudless, I wanted to wait, and the waiting paid off!
It was an overcast day, but cooler because of it.
This is also the first very hilly preserve, with a lot of ups and downs on the trail, which made for a pleasant change after all the savannas and other flats.
Of course, there was some wildlife!

Tomorrow – the lake!
