Des Plaines Flood – Gurnee 2

I posted yesterday’s early, and then realized I might need to put some perspective on this flood, especially for those not from the area.

So, since today’s post covers three separate photo sites, I thought I might include a map, just to show where I’m talking about.

The first location is at the Grand Avenue bridge. The police had the road blocked off just to the east of the access road , but that didn’t seem to deter a couple of people we saw.

People can be really dim sometimes!

Lots of sandbags kept it dry inside!

Some shots from the bridge:

After this, we drove up 21 towards 41, and stopped just south of the intersection.

Behind the pizza place there, we could walk back and see the actual flooded area fairly close.

The road out there? A normally busy four-lane highway!

And right here was the ultimate irony – a flooded boat center!SONY DSCThe feature photo is the same flooded location, but from the 21-41 intersection (the top circle). I heard the southbound was open today (Sunday), the northbound may be open tomorrow.

Next stop – Wadsworth!
