On the Trail

Some more shots from the weekend walk in Wadsworth Savanna.

It was almost a struggle to find something to shoot, but there were options, if you looked close!

Not as much color as there will be in about a month, but the deep contrasts of golden grasses, light gray trunks and blue sky still lend an interesting palette to a sunny day.

We saw a small variety of wildlife – robins, red-winged blackbirds, Canada geese, whitetail deer.

We also saw these:

A crayfish couldn't seem to figure out the drainpipe opening - it kept trying to climb up the curved sides

A few feet away were the remains of another crayfish – a raccoon I would think had a nice meal!

Kildeers were calling all around. How many do you see?

And for this last shot? I was manually focused on something else when three kildeers flew over. Quickly, and with no time to refocus, I took two pictures.

Not bad for no focus!

We also saw a small grouping of ring necked ducks and a bufflehead, but they were far away and I couldn’t get a good photo.

Tomorrow, the artsy shots!
