Continuing an earlier post, I was walking along the Des Plaines River, heading north of Warren Township High School-O’Plaine. We were in the middle of the dry spell, and the river had fallen. Areas along the shore that were normally soggy, were bone dry.

This dryness had the effect of opening up new areas for seedlings to exploit.

I was in full photodork mode, getting down on the ground to change perspective. The high school athletes running by on the path, what must they have thought? Some fat old lady crawling around by the river, taking pictures, what a goof!

I was only along the river for a short time, since I was doing a roundtrip walk from home. As I walked through downtown on the way back, I passed an apple tree in someone’s front yard. The fruits were ripening nicely, and framed up nicely too!

Nice apples!

I have to do more walking this year – I’d like to get further along the path.
