I was excited for winter this year, but not for the usual reasons. I got a new Sony Alpha 55 for Christmas last year and I really wanted to get cool winter shots with it – ice, snow, icicles, etc.
Instead, I’m still waiting for something wintry to shoot.
Luckily, my husband came home after walking the dogs Saturday and told me that the creek in a nearby conservation area had frozen with large crystals.
It was so cool!
I tried to capture the awesomeness of the sight, but my photos didn’t quite catch the whole 3D layered effect of the crystals’ structure.
This one may be the closest.
Changing it to black and white let me
contrast the crystals a little bit better.
As a rule, I don’t like winter, but visually? It can be one of the most interesting times!
